Christmas cancelled in Essex

I do wonder how many people are disappointed because they can't get together to celebrate the birth of Christ, as opposed to just moaning that they can't meet up scoff food and get ****ed - like they can do on the other 364 days of the year? (Subject to tier rules)

Disappointed for the kids, and spending time with the fam celebrating the Jesus Christ.

It's fun and something to look forward to, it was always a magical time when we were kids, and we try and do the same for our kids.

Your view is very cynical, it may be true for some but not all.

Think people are more ****ed off at yet another U turn.

People are also just generally fed up of the whole **** show from number 10.

Yeah it's a tough gig, but **** me with all the evidence and data available to them I'm pretty certain they can come up with more consistent and better judged programmes than the one the morons are currently doing, with the go out, but don't go out, go to work but don't go to work etc etc

Did you see all the r-soles at the London stations trying to get out before the midnight deadline?

And bringing their fukking virus with them.

FFS. These are the idiots that the virus should be killing off.

I know bloody idiots, but what did the government expect they've created the panic.

The supermarkets will be next, can guarantee there will be pandemonium tomorrow with everyone rushing to get the Xmas veg and short date goods.

Seeing this makes you think they might aswell as just left the plans as they were, surely it's got to spread faster in crowds like that, than it has over a steady stream over a few days.....

Religious observance is not forbidden, it's the feasting and carousing that is limited.

Wasnt Cromwell so despissed that they executed him even though he was already dead by the time

Day 1 at any management school is likely to include the idea that moaning groaning pessimism means you will not be in the job 5 minutes...Weasle escape words like "" unjustified""does not make it alright..No employee wants to listen to the boss twisting on man..FFS.

Am I allowed to say "There's nowt queer as folk" nowadays?

I'm sure that if Covid could hold a press conference or had a Twitter account, it could let everyone know in advance of its plans to change, and at least people could then plan around it.

To be fair, the numbers and data (scientists and doctors were saying it) were their earlier in the week, the government chose to ignore it at the time.

I don't think they were.

With complex data from several sources, the "results" are not there at the same times, often you have to wait for that final, but significant bit of information. Plus in this case, there is the political element to decide how to act on the data. But even if Boris had announced this at the start of December, or November, there would be same amount of actual and faux outrage.

We are affected by this new announcement. Our fam has discussed a clandestine gathering, which by all accounts would be possible and the authorities will be none the wiser. But, and this is what people don't seem to understand, whilst the risk of getting caught is low, the risk of catching the virus is still high, as high as it's ever been, and that's what it's all about, and that's what it's always been about ... avoid contact with others.

I'd rather be speaking to my friends and family on the phone or computer, rather than saying prayers for them later.

Germany cancelled Christmas a week earlier. Scotland, Wales and NI all went for stricter controls before England. SAGE was saying it was going to be awful and the stats in Kent where the numbers rose even through lockdown were a glaring sign something wasn't working.

We've a consistent history of reacting too slowly to Covid-19.

Agreed.

I never said I didn't agree with the lockdowns. Just was disappointed, and annoyed at the continued mishandling from government.

I would have been less disappointed had we followed other EU countries weeks earlier
