Dogs (why would you do this?)

Horrendous things. It’s a wild animal and has no place indoors. Let alone in the presence of a child. If every single dog on the planet died right now i’d be quite happy.

We've never kept a dog as we hate the stench it can create if dog nor washed daily and you have carpets, wooden floors as the smell will get i there.

I disagree with what you have posted as 99% of the dogs I've seen are a mans best friend you OH may deceive you, your siblings may fool you, rob from you as your so-called mates but do does not.

dog and child together left alone or with someone who could not stop the dog from the attack do not go together.

I've seen dog attacks on the news on those dogs that have a clamp-like grip and when these dogs get hold of another dog or human, no matter how hard you hit them they wont let go unless you kill them or as good as.

This country of ours is very thick as it allows dogs in parks and some of the parasites let their dogs do a mess and not pick it up or properly and children catch disease from it.

Picking up one of our grandchild from school today, my OH goes into the school i wait with the car as parking is a problem and my OH was telling me outside the school gates a massive dump by a dog left by the inbred owner and where people have stepped into and it is spreading.

Dog owners need training and a licence costing 3/500 pounds so they can be checked and we get more inbreds locked up when they do not pick up their dog mess.

As i said before, this death is not the last as many and i've met have said their dog "would never hurt anyone" So sad

When a Dog goes into attacking it’s prey mode, it will clamp on until it’s prey is killed - in the wild if a dog doesn’t eat it dies, so it will cope with extreme pain before letting go.

For dangerous dogs, the only way to get them to release is to twist the collar and strangle until they start to suffocate - kicking, punching won’t have any affect.

In my view any dog can turn, even just on a one off basis. However owners often have different opinions. I recall having a heated discussion with a work colleague who was adamant her dog would never go for anyone. My (in my view logical stance) was you can never make that statement about any animal that has the potential to attack humans. Dogs fit that category

A few years ago a father was baby sitting his young child and there was a Lakeland terroir in the room. The father got drunk, fell asleep and the dog mauled the baby to death.

Most terriers - esp Jack Russells have a high prey drive any will happily kill rats, rabbits etc

Jack Russell's are statistically quite high on the list of baby maulings, a survey a few years back revealed that the dog most likely to bite .......... is a Lab.

About 15 years or so ago my friend had a cocker spaniel. Lovely dog, very friendly with other dogs and people. Loved being fussed over. One day he ripped my friends daughters cheek off. She was about 8-9 at the time and swore she had just been sitting there eating her tea when the dog attacked. Dog was immediately taken to the vet and destroyed. Years later she admitted she had been tormenting the dog by holding a piece of cooked chicken in her mouth, when the dog lunged for it she would throw herself back so the dog missed and she would then swallow the meat. Unfortunately the dog got wise to her tricks and lunged sooner than she expected. It got the chicken and her cheek. She needed extensive plastic surgery on her face and has never been near a dog since. Obviously her fault for teasing the dog but could you have trusted the dog again? I think I couldn't because it's natural hunting instincts had been brought to the fore by that act.

I'm surprised at all this dislike of dogs. I was brought up with them and love them, man's best friend etc.

Dogs have lived with people and their children since I don't know when. There have been some shocking incidences of maulings in recent years, but these were rare in the past.

Why the increase? The owners, of course: modern Britons. The post-Tony Blair generation, living on public money with no cares or responsibilities, high on drugs, no morals, communist/socialist, Godless. Coupled with the fact that immigrants of certain races fear or hate dogs, the poor creatures are getting a bad name and dog ownership is falling.

Properly trained dogs will live with children as if they were a family member; protecting, playing and caring.

It's often dogs that have been mistreated but more than that its down to the people looking after the dog

you may not have read my previous posts we don't own dogs and i hate the smell and used to tell my clients to put the dog in another room or garden if they barked at me or jumped at me but i am aware generally a dog is the mans best friend and they won't cheat on you.

one of my siblings was attacked by an German Sheppard - he used to go to his mates house and they went to high school together and that day my sibling went in aged about 12 and another friend was inside and messing with the dog and out of the blue the dog stuck his teeth into by siblings lap.

A work mate of mine went to friends shed been there before had a few drinks and was lying on the soafa and few others were having a drink when one of those bendy leg dogs bite half of her nose of as she laid there quietly.

I'm advocating a new law: No one under the age of 14 or frail person to be left alonne with a dog that does not belong to that person and not one at all to be left with a dog in the same room alone under the age of 18. License dog owners and if they breach the rules take the licence away and fine them

what a truly sad story, for girl and dog.

The dog was encouraged to try and grab food, which is what it did….the problem is the dog was trying to grab the food - it wasn’t trying to injure the girl.

Most dogs don’t smell at all - they are extremely clean animals. Some heavier dogs like labs and retrievers can smell a bit doggy from their coat.

hypoallergenic dog breeds like Cavapoos don’t moult and don’t smell.

I would say there are definitely dogs which would never attack, but it’s a mixture of breed, breeding, training.

Dogs bred by parents chosen for docile character and of gentle breed naturally have a “soft bite” and would never bite anybody. The poodle crosses are often very good: cavapoos, cockapoos etc.

But you should never leave a dog unattended with children - dogs are spooked by kids, they are noisy and move unpredictably.

You make a valid point - I should have said some homes stink of dog becuse the owners live like dirty bastards annd never mind looking after the dog/s they can barely look after themselves.

I recall going in to a few houses where the dog/s had passed on and no pictures or anything - they houses looked tidy and i used to ask them if they ever had a dog and they asked me how i knew, i did not have it in me to tell them there was till a slight smell, this is the cleaner houses.

never owned a dog but may be people should pay more attention as to what some types of dogs were bred for ?? (May be)

pit bulls
Rhodesian ridge backs

Neapolitan mastiffs afaik were bred to kill people ??????
