mass exodus !

This idea was suggested to me.

The bank say that by using one other service from them will excuse you paying the £10 a month to have your account with them.

Take out a credit card with the bank, use it once to buy something cheap and then pay the bill but with 1 pound more than the amount you owe them. Cut up the card. This means they now owe you the pound and have to keep the acount open.

I am not saying it works but worth considering.

I heard a similar idea about opening a deposit account with them.

If you are fond of using the Interweb they probably have an online account that pays good interest.

I use one of them and shift most of my money into there, just topping up the current account to have enough to pay standing orders and direct debits, which I know about in advance. As I can look at the balances every day and do an immediate transfer I have little risk of being overdrawn.
