We used to have a Year and a day rule for linking death from a criminal act (ended in 1996). to manslaughter/murder. Now they only have to show the death was due or substantially due to the criminal act. There have been cases where the victim dies several years after the assault.

Yep my mate died about 12 years after a serious assault that left him severely brain damaged. The half dozen guys that done it where shyting themselves that they would be straight back in for murder despite serving several years . Took a couple of PM s to decide it was not related
