The politician's syllogism, also known as the politician's logic or the politician's fallacy, is a logical fallacy of the form:

We must do something.
This is something.
Therefore, we must do this.

To improve things, things must change.
We are changing things
Therefore, we are improving things

Bit like this climate change caper than :ROFLMAO:
Yes. There's a lot of discussion over what is going to make a difference and what's a pointless distraction. There was a large carbon capture plant opened recently. It cost $10-15 million to build and I've no idea how much to run. It can capture and store (indefinitely) 4,000 tons of CO2 a year.

Or in more concrete terms it can suck the same amount of CO2 out of the air as 3,500 return flights from London to new York a year. Or in terms of concrete (literally) around 55,000 tons of concrete's worth of CO2. More than a few people believe that the same energy and money spent on something else would be far more useful. A single large wind turbine can save (up to) 52,000 tons of CO2 for about $4 million, and it generates power.

13,500 people have crossed The Channel in small boats so far this year.

The number of asylum cases of people who arrived via the EU that were considered inadmissible?

7.

Last April, a judge in Sicily ordered Salvini to stand trial for refusing to let a Spanish migrant rescue ship dock in an Italian port in 2019, which kept those on board at sea for days. He was accused of kidnapping and dereliction of duty. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

Yeah that's going to happen isn't it, the whole of the EU is talking about how they intend to 'push back' refugees from Afghanistan. There is a limit as to how many Western Europe can absorb before if becomes unsustainable, I suggest we're approaching that point rapidly.

Southern Europe has never recovered from the financial crash because the 'pig' countries are sill paying unsustainable debt in order to prop up the Euro and import BMW's from Germany, that unsustainable debt is being added to by more unsustainable debt in the form of Covid relief money from the ECB (Germany), add to that a few million more refugees, **** me, it's going to get interesting.

Germany managed a million asylum applications in a year and is doing fine. Are we that much more fragile?
