Thankfully me, my family have never had to go on any benefits we have always worked and had the ability to work.

I've seen many people, generations of families that have never worked and abused the DWP and disability benefits.

However, unlike some assuming most are benefits cheats just because they know of or met some, in my case it came with the type of job I had, eg visiting people in their homes about 70% of the time those on benefits.

I am under no illusion that benefit fraudsters are present but will never ever make sweeping statements that there are many/etc as they benefit cheats are in a minority, fact!!

It's easy to have a swipe at those on benefits as often they are on a low but consider yourselves, lucky chum, you had a job.

I will report benefit crooks but I am fully aware its a minority that abuse the system and I for one would never make baseless sweeping statements that a lot cheat the sytem as it is NOT true, fact!!

It really is not easy to get benefits. A friend has long covid. Was highly intelligent, worked as engineer for Rolls Royce (aeroplanes), 47 years old.

Now bed bound, can't read, can only talk for about 20 minutes at a time, confused etc. Their lives have changed forever. Been almost 2 years now. Gone from wealthy middle class to living on benefits, in poverty.

His wife told me recently how she had to complete a 28 page document to apply for benefits. You need a degree just to understand half of what's asked.

Anybody who says getting benefits it's easy is lying.

good points but don't forget chum those that lie do get them and those telling the truth often get turned down even though they have genuine difficulties.

The forums were vast when i worked in the council and have experience over many years in several departments.

It's how you fill them in, for the genuine cases to ensure they get their point across without over stating their problems but often end up understating them.

It might surprise you to know foreigners don’t get jobs in the UK in areas of high unemployment.

What's weird about hating people FRAUDULENTLY CLAIMING benefits? They are taking your and my hard-earned money; WE work whilst THEY sit back and rake it in. It makes my blood boil; my pimples pulsate and my liver quiver when I think of all the things I could do if only I had the free, paid-for time that your scroungers have.

I'm finding more people I know can't really walk any more, though they wouldn't count as disabled, so they need a car for everything.

Many people cannot walk very well and need a car precisely because they have been driving cars for decades instead of walking. Do they deserve public money?

Just as a statistic, the 3 who didn't bother at all are English.
The one who did 2 days work is half English half Brazilian and the good one willing to work is Jamaican.

Benefits culture has made the English boys this way. Generally speaking, you take the same sort of work that your parents did - it is inbred in you. If your parents were on benefits, it's highly likely you will be. It's worse in Scotland btw.

Yes it is, but only if you know how. An honest person will really struggle claiming benefits, but your scrounger knows all the well-worn, time-honoured tricks. How to exaggerate the illness, how to take witnesses, how to find sympathetic doctors and specialists, how to appeal over and over again, get doctor's notes and hospital letters, how to nag so that the officials will sign anything just to get rid of him.

Proportionately and as a percentage, how much of a decrease is in that in benefits had Labour been in power, how does the supposed decrease compare percentagewise to when Labour were in power?

Did the greedy grasping Tory scum abuse the system though? They certainly took advantage of a the Covid situation and used it to their advantage by handing out millions in taxpayers money to their chums. I suppose after all the junk was binned, it is rightfully construed as abusing the system.
