Schrodingers Immigrant

Anyone care to offer an explanation as to why 'migrants' from Africa and beyond are migrating their way across the seas right across europe then risking their lives again across more water to make it to a tiny island called the UK????
Well you could dobthe intelligent thing and do some research.

Or you could just rely on your own ignorance and prejudice.

We know which you will pick, reasoned argument based on knowledge is not your strong suit

4. There is no legal requirement for a refugee to claim asylum in any particular country

But there is, if I understand the 'system' correctly a requirement that the individual seeks asylum in the first 'safe' country they reach - to the extent that the Dublin Regulation was formulated to try to prevent 'Asylum shopping'

The 'first safe country' is a principle rather than a law.

There is no obligation under the refugee convention or any other instrument of international law that requires refugees to seek asylum in any particular country. There has, however, been a longstanding "first country of asylum" principle in international law by which countries are expected to take refugees

The immigration rules state, however, that the secretary of state will only remove an asylum seeker to a safe third country if there is clear evidence that the country concerned will admit the person. This will be so if the person has arrived in the UK via another safe country and had an opportunity at the border of or within that country to claim asylum. The mere fact that the person has passed through another country does not necessarily mean there was an opportunity to claim asylum; if an agent planned the journey and the person was hidden in a vehicle for the duration of it, for example, there is unlikely to have been any realistic opportunity for the person to approach the authorities

I read apparently Asylum seekers continue to flock to Calais in the hope of reaching Britain because France does so little to help new arrivals find work, retrain or integrate, a group of immigrants has told MPs.

Fair do's but wait what about our UK citizens our ex service men and women, i dont see how we afford such luxuries for them too, oh wait we dont!

Oh, come on - They queue up at Calais to find an opportunity to get across the channel, by boat or hiding on vehicles, they risk their lives to do it in droves every night, so that is a nonsense statement.

When my missus gets angry . . . . I know where I flee too.

If that just happens to be the local pub then so be it.

"Good evening Tracey. Can I have a pint of your finest . . . & oh, by the way, I am here tonight solely to claim refugee status & political asylum on the grounds that . . . . Would you awfully mind taking me home tonight, feeding me & allowing me the use of your telecommunications systems to arrange the rest of my family to join me???

No, ex service get universal credit then end up homeless.

Would you like to blame the people responsible for that policy?

Well, I’d just be happy for myself and my family to escape war/persecution etc by reaching a safe country. To then risk everyone’s life by crossing the channel at night in a dinghy for better benefits would be, in my eyes, greed.

Lol. Why didn’t you just say 'No'?

You clearly haven’t offered an explanation to the question as to why 'migrants' from Africa and beyond are migrating their way across the seas right across europe then risking their lives again across more water to make it to a tiny island called the UK

Well, don't forget - We keep being told UK benefits are less than elsewhere.
