Where are they going to re-fuel? I suppose they could always row back.

Many sensible people think tis is going to be a bad idea.

Do what the Australians did give em a boat to get back

smugglers were encouraging people to jump over board so as the Australians could not push em back into Indonesian waters

The Aussies soon sorted that

it virtually stopped any more boat migration

Won't work in The Channel.

Bad luck.

All of those had an agreement with the other end that they'll take charge of the boat and make sure it's safe. Without that it would be futile, as the boats can just come back again or illegal if they're in signs of distress.

I'll give you three guesses how many boats the French coast guard will come to collect.

It's another example of Priti Patel's grand plans and non existent delivery. All it will ever do is make headlines.

UK maritime law prevents Priti Useless's plans form ever coming to fruition.
No doubt she is working tirelessly to re-write the UK's centuries old maritime laws, to suit her agenda.

Priti Patel is in office because Johnson had to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

It is hard to find competent, principled, honest politicians who are willing to pretend they support him.

We are paying the French millions of pounds to help them stop immigrants actually trying to set sail for these shores.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

What I heard (on the radio) is that the trafficker's organise a small boat to get the French coastguards attention and while they are busy with them they set the bigger boats off somewhere else.

Doesn't take a genius to think of that ploy but somehow they seem to fall for it.

So, you then have to have two boats to catch theirs, so the smugglers launch three. Or four, or ten.

No matter how many boats you throw at the problem the people smugglers will always be able to adapt.

It would be an interesting exercise to see how many people make their way over if we stopped paying the French. I'm fine with it, we don't take many asylum seekers (some of them.might be HGV drivers!) but we'd need to invest more in our applications and resettlement schemes to match.

oh well

nowt can
Be done about it than
Not by just throwing the navy at it, no.

It's a bit like music and video piracy. It used to be a big deal but it's mostly evaporated now there's Spotify. People were always willing to pay for music but when it was easier to download an illegal copy of music or a film than rent one, people would go for the illegal download.

Give people a legal route to citizenship and they'll take it. If there isn't one then they'll do what they need to.

It's a complex issue that's been unsolved for decades, which means this is of course the perfect time and place to finally solve it.
