So some should be denied their new and exciting?

Strawman ; I didn't say they should be .

Many of the older generation were deprived of five of their formative years in WW2.

Beyond my (and the current government's) control.
Unless your trying to say that because someone had it hard, so should all who follow.

Probably the same way they're dealing with the restrictions, going on their merry way with scant consideration of the risk they are creating for the less-young.

My second - born is barely 13, thoughtful, respectful, has a sense of humour and compassion, and would happily keep out of everyone's way.
He's a million miles away from the deadbeat 18 Yr olds, smoking and kicking bins over.

But seeing as we're generalising now, the absolute worst ones I've encountered during this are the old, who were the only ones driving around during lockdown (unless there are a lot of septagenarian(sic?) and octogenarian "essential workers" around our way.
The only ones who, when the shops were limiting numbers in, were treating filling a trolley as a day out, insisting it was their right to do so as a couple. Depriving others of the chance to get into the shop themselves.

14 freshers thought it would be a jolly jape to tie themselves together in a lift in halls of residence. Guess what the result is?

Scattergunning now , because you have such a weak position you're relying on extremes, strawmen, emotions, and irrelevances.

The irony of your post obviously escapes you. Every offending post deleted now so you can trot off to bed a happy little bunny. Nighty night.
You like making stuff up don't you? Silly boy.

We can only do what we can do, as parents.

Love them, keep them safe, support them.

Just make it up as we go along. We're not perfect.

In the strangest of ways, coming from a broken home is a great upbringing, in that it teaches one how not to bring up kids. So, you try to avoid the errors of those who went before.

The daftest of things were important to me ; apart from the obvious ps and qs, making my lads speak to the waiting staff for themselves, to order their own food.
Politeness , independence, confidence,, all good traits.

How long can the goverment carry on with present policy of lockdowns and other restrictions.
When the winter flu season kicks in how will they tell the difference between flu and CV19.
If everyone is in lockdown how will anyone get the flu ?

May be the common cold should be seen as someone not trying and have a £1,000 fine slapped on them.

Look. Basically, if everyone just wore masks when they should it would make a massive difference. Some people just think about themselves & not the vulnerable or strain on services. Ignorant & arrogant.

I agree.

People want to see it as an infrigement on freedom but reducing R value means social distancing and that means a collective effort.

Without rules, what is everybody's responsibility always turns into nobody's responsibility.

I see it both ways. The elderly are suffering but also my son turned 17 in May. When I look back to my 17th birthday (1988) it just doesn’t compare.
I really feel for the teenagers at the moment (& fear that things won’t return to normality)

Teenagers need social interaction, teenagers that are better socialised go on to experience less social anxiety as adults.

I watched all the news about exam results over the summer.....painful time for the kids involved.

I haven't seen anything like that...quite the opposite, where shops like Sainsbury's have tried organising an early hour for support staff and the elderly, other people forced their way in, barging past the old folk and stripping the shelves, leaving them with nothing.
I've personally seen pensioners in tears because they have not been able to get supplies due to the utter greed and selfishness of others.

I don't disagree with you ; I am just retelling my own observations from the beginning of the late - march lockdown, through the mid - June easing, and into August.
It then settled down to a normality, although the introduction of face coverings coincided with the removal of the one - way systems, and the inevitable return to the old normal.......

Children are a key vector for colds and flu

NHS are very worried about flu outbreaks during a Covid peak where both could be competing for ICU

How did you "see" that, were you there? If so, why? do you work for Sainsburys? or consider yourself elderly?

and we are led to believe that chidren will not be a key vector for Corvid ?

Since the NHS has now had six months to prepare for the resurgence of covid I'm hoping that they are now up to speed and can deal with high demand - they have been gearing up ?
