Everytime I go the pub I wake up in the morning surrounded by glasses so maybe im pinching a few...

When I was younger it used to be the ladies surrounding me....now it's glasses
Ladies glasses you mean like babycham or a snowball glass

Côtes Du Rhône. Used our favourite wine stopper - was bought for us as a holiday present from an old girlfriend of our son when she went to Disney with her family.

I’ve never really taken to whisky, always burnt a bit. I’d heard that only blended scotch was like that, not single malts. My daughter bought me a bottle of 12 year old single malt last year so just recently I’ve been having a drop of it every night. Still burns but I’m going to stick with it and see what all the fuss is about. I’m thinking it’s all a load of bollux! Kings new clothes and all that.

Tell you what I do like, a nice cognac. Only time I seem to have one though is after dinner when I’m on a cruise! I pick the dearest one and they serve it in a nice glass that they pre-heat with steam. I’ve often thought of spending £150+ on a bottle in the duty free but what has turned me off is the thought that my son and his mates (when he was living at home) would knock it back before going out to save themselves a couple of quid on drinks down the pub! I think I’ll do some sampling, see what I like on our April cruise and treat myself to a bottle in the duty free in my way home.

No a whisky drinker but its tradition to take it with water - that is why there is a massive whisky jug collectors thing going on - the jug contains water and has the whisky brand on it.

Whisky was my main tipple. But if it burns you, then it won't make a difference if it is single malt or blended. Which type is it e.g Highland, Islay, Speyside. Some are a lot more powerful than others, depending how much peat smoke is used. Jameson's Irish whiskey is the easiest to start with because it has a smoother, lighter flavour.

Remy Martin VSOP is a good starting point.

This one.

That is one of the most well known and it isn't smoky or peaty. If you find that a bit harsh, then you probably are not going to like Scotch whisky. The standard Jameson's Irish whiskey (in the green bottle) is smoother and milder because it's made a bit differently.
