Anyone got any evidence for a god?

Like Dan (or Don to you)

Dan, Don or Dim.. does it really matter? I'm sure he's hardly dumb enough to use his real name on here.
I'd go with dim as he seems to think all wars are because of religion.

I never said all wars were religious. Why should I hide my identity?

Poor Mike simply doesn't like the flaws in his personality being exposed. Even if it is himself doing the exposing.

And Norcon. What can we say? You apply all sorts of attributes to those you don't know based on the twisted beliefs of your chosen mythological structure. Yet you fail to explain why your God is any more real than Thor or Kamisama.

The atheists and heretics are excelling themselves once again in the art of pouring scorn upon God. Evil reins on here..

Like Dan (or Don to you) I find that rather unfair.

I'm an atheist but I'm not evil.

In fact, I'm rather nice.

You believe in capital punishment as many of the atheists and heretics on here do, so that in itself makes you evil whether you like it or not!
A dark shadow hangs over you.

In ancient Rome you would have been amongst the baying crowd calling for the Christians head!

You're right. I do believe in capital punishment.

Does that make me an evil person?

Do you prefer to encourage murder rather than deter it? Or is it a Christian thing - turning the other cheek. You've murdered my wife, would you now murder my daughter too, please?

And of course you have proof that capital punishment deters murder?

I just have dimwit.

It ends one persons ability off killing anything again dimwit.
Edit- Who may have been completely innocent in the first place of murdering another human being.

It's a proven fact that it doesn't deter other people going on murderous rampages.

But we know that it was created by that Omnipotent, Almighty Invisible Divine, master source of all Energies.

Sorry MLF, you don't know anything was created by a mystical being. As Dan said earlier, you believe it was created, by this unseen entity. There's a whole world of difference, between knowing and believing.
I believe my alarm clock will go off at 7 o clock tomorrow morning. Only when it goes off at 7 o clock can I then say I know it went off. ;) ;)

Is it not so obvious that everything is made from Energy, Energy has so many different forms and some of it can visible as in the visible spectrum of the light energy, so much of it is invisible, such as nuclear radiation, the light itself is not the master source of Energy, it is driven from the master source and then becomes visible to us at certain wavelength, the rest we cannot see and some of our instruments can detect it, we can only assume it its spectrum is so far wide as far as we can detect it within the range of our instruments, what about beyond this range? beyond the detection range of our instruments, and then we have these deadly nuclear radiation that we cannot see, and fission reaction in the sun that is the power house of energy that supports all life on earth. I interpret God as the Master source of Energy responsible for the creation.

we do not fully understand why magnets only attract ferrous metals, and not the non-ferrous, and why it doesn't attract biological matter, or how gravity is created, all are assumptions if any. Do we know why electricity is produced when we cut magnetic field lines by an inductor, all we know is that it is produced when we do that, why we don't know? so if we have not managed to crack simple puzzles, how can you crack the biggest puzzle and dismiss it as non-existing?

You would not know if a force of gravity existed until you made an ultimate contact with the object that was attracting you, otherwise you are in a free fall and you would not know if gravity was pulling you, same way
we cannot prove God exist until such time when we may make a contact with him, until then to dismiss that he does not exist is foolish. where do you think the universe and all matter inside it came from?

Do you have any evidence for that?

Yeah. Read on.....

Criminologists' Views on Deterrence and the Death Penalty

A recent survey of the most leading criminologists in the United States found that the overwhelming majority did not believe that the death penalty is a proven deterrent to homicide. Eighty-eight percent of the country’s top criminologists do not believe the death penalty acts as a deterrent to homicide, according to a new study published in the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology and authored by Professor Michael Radelet, Chair of the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado-Boulder, and Traci Lacock, also at Boulder.

Similarly, 87% of the expert criminologists believe that abolition of the death penalty would not have any significant effect on murder rates. In addition, 75% of the respondents agree that “debates about the death penalty distract Congress and state legislatures from focusing on real solutions to crime problems.”

The survey relied on questionnaires completed by the most pre-eminent criminologists in the country, including Fellows in the American Society of Criminology; winners of the American Society of Criminology’s prestigious Southerland Award; and recent presidents of the American Society of Criminology. Respondents were not asked for their personal opinion about the death penalty, but instead to answer on the basis of their understandings of the empirical research.

If you were fast asleep, and didn't hear it go off at 7am, and woke up at 8am, how would you know if it went off at 7am?

You would probably know from the faint echos of the sound still reverberating within the walls of your room as long as you have a very very sensitive mic that can detect minuscule vibrations still echoing around and a sound processor that can detect only the waves produced by the alarm clock and ignore your snoring!

BTW, i woke up at 7am today as the thrashing winds were banging things about that woke me up, and I could see my tree stem bending! I have never seen anything this ferocious so far!c

And I thought I had all my 10 cats safe inside, but somehow one one black cat managed to evade my notice and remained outside throughout the storm, and bloody thing did not want to come in when i opened the door for her, then the others wanted to go out too, so I shut the door!

NOrcon - I hear the Bible was pretty big on revenge and capital punishment.

Raping, pillaging and such like. So all you God botherer must be very ver evil. 30 year's war? Crusades? Oh dear. Methinks your chestnuts are going to be well and truly roasted.

Some might suggest capital punishment for all those priests caught using little boys for toast racks.
