They're due to chronic underfunding despite the growing demand from an ageing population with increasing long-term health issues
 
Go to any A&E, especially at night/early evening and check out who is driving the demand, and what the "emergency" illnesses are.

Last time I went to a London hospital the people running around were the tax payer funded interpreters. I was the only English speaker in the waiting room apart from interpreters.

Migrants tend to be healthier than the indigenous population.

Last time I went to A&E, the only English speakers apart from me were two policemen and a chav in handcuffs. Of course, he got priority treatment.

I took my wife to A and E a few months back

East Surrey hospital, it’s close to Harley, Redhill, Crawley - all places with significant immigrant populations and housed refugees.

All of the patients were English speaking citizens, 90% of them white.

I don't think I've ever been my local hospital and not heard English being spoken. Even those whose 1st language isn't English still speak it.
