Speed awareness course?

Well there is one glimmer of hope, the old bill get paid overtime to sit in the vans at roughly double time, the government are knocking back the OT payments to standard day rate for all OT hence the cries of rage and the threatend no more front line wooden tops. Ho hum.

You used to be allowed three penalty points without having to declare, I am not aware that that has changed.
Key part here is 'used to be'.

Read your documents and unless you have a very lax policy, it will be stated that you MUST inform them.

Regarding the course, the letter says i must produce a photocard driving license - anyone know why?... and all i have is the old paper one, and it says i must reply within 7 days.... so i'm not gonna get a photocard license in 7 days, so decision made for me !!! ho hum!

Based on the silly comments you've made in this thread you'd probably fail it anyway.

I did the course. It was £60, the same as the fine. It was very interesting, and I enjoyed it.

For the record, I was doing 33 in a 30.

I'm not saying how many times I drove through the same camera that week

First speeding offence in 25 years.

£92 course fees, or £60 fine for me!!!!

Im still curious as to why you can break the law, but unless your caught, you have not.

Excuse my ignorance.

I got three points four years ago, duely informed my insurer. No change to the premium for that year, had about 5 months left to run for the year, but no way of knowing if it affected the renewal quote.

I have heard that some insurers ignore the first three, but could be a
myth. I'm sure these days they would use any excuse to up the premium.

Breaking the speed limit is a choice it is not compulsory.

Financially speaking - do the course.

Cheers noseall, it says i need a photocard licence if i do the course, and i have the old paper sort.... so i'll take the points and the fine...

Does anyone know if i might get an offer of the course, should i get caught again?

i don't want to do the course because i know what i did wrong etc and it costs 50% more than the fine. So i asked about the three points and my insurance to weigh up the costs.
I don't know about the speed awareness course but I have been on one with the police driver via my company part of the training hours owing back to company, anyway, like most people we think we know it all regarding our driving habit, it was very interesting, one of them was when to change lane not because of heavy traffic, it's all about knowing what going to happen ahead of you!
