So what factors do you think were involved in the EU loaning Ford cash to move production of the Transit from Southampton to Turkey
Because Turkey was already building vastly more numbers of Transit vans (and more efficiently) than Southampton.
Ford UK received loans from the EU also, but they still could not make it work.

At least the EU will get their money back from the Turk investment.

I was ok with things the way they were thanks. If the EU start getting greedy let's have another vote eh?
I'm sure that we were all happy when we were young and free from aches and pains but time moves on and those who don't move with the times will be left behind to wallow in their own self pity.

So much for protecting EU workers and industry from cheap goods being dumped on us... The EU loaned Ford the money to move production out of the EU... They used British money to pay to destroy the lives of British workers.

Yep the EU need to be nice to the turks or they may well turn on the migrant tap into the EU :)

there are also some minor issues , with Turkey such as the 500,000 (ish) detained in prisons since this coup caper

some sectors of the free press shut down

mad mullahs taking over the place :?: etc etc

Diddums. The UK slackers need to up their game then. It's not the EU's fault that they (Ford UK) could not make their EU money work.
If the plant couldn't make money, then that is fine but why would the EU give Ford a grant to help move its production outside of the EU? Furthermore, why are there no problems with the movement of ford goods between the EU and none EU Turkey? As far as I am aware, Turkey pays nothing to the EU.. Why do you suppose that we would have to pay?

They didn't give ford a grant. Production had been going strong at the Turk factory for years before the Southampton woes. The EIB saw a worthy investment. They also loaned Ford UK money too.

So we benefit from things such as the single market etc, I guess.

A Ford spokeswoman told us the EIB loan was to modernise the Turkish factory in readiness for production of a range of all-new cars, not to re-tool to absorb production from Southampton.

She said: “EIB loans are loans at commercial rates, and do not use taxpayers’ money. While the EIB is owned by the 27 member states, it does not receive financial support from them.”

wouldn't have happened to Peugeot, citron or Renault. French govt, still own enough stock to have a say on a lot of french global firms. Of course its not illegal state subsidies or anything like that in contravention of EU law.. No definitely not

I'm afraid that it was a grant whether you believe it or not. Why would anyone invest in UK Industry when they are shackled to EU dictated workers rights? Best leave then... Eh?

No, it was a LOAN. Show me where it says it was a grant? I believe what I have read on biased and un-biased news sources not some lunatic, multi faceted, Euro hater.

Not sure what you are trying to say here?
Are you suggesting the EIB did not or has not invested in UK businesses?
