Didn't Osborne promise to implement a living wage of £9.00 an hour, and I seem to recollect that there were 2 votes since then.

And do you think it's enforceable?

yes .

Amazon as well need to sort them selves out .

All those buying goods on the cheap on Ebay or amazon are defrauding the UK & could well be forcing UK companies to close

That would not make a big dent or provide a solution to the problem.

a billion £ for a start . same amount that was promised to NI . that every one is complaining about ;)

so that problem is sorted

simples. Next problem ??? :)

What a shame there's no such thing as a Minimum Wage that a person can actually live on.

Is there any organisation with the power to implements some kind of rules? Maybe we could get together and have some kind of a vote.

Whilst I dont disagree in principal with a minimum wage or living wage, Its nowhere as simple as it seems to achieve.

No U cannot blame people for wanting to come here . If I lived in some dior ear a stan country I would want to leave .

in some instances we the west have caused the issues or problems that are causing mass migration/ refugees

incidentally your post was a bit long Gasbanni , I do not read long posts :) I have a short attention span :)

It was long I agree, but I read it all and it highlights a problem........the trickle of migrants will become a flood ( it's already the biggest migration of refugees since WW2) .......due to smartphones people in countries that are not stable see Europe in videos and guess what .....it looks like paradise.....it is to their current surroundings.

It's because I don't agree with your belief that an itinerant takes a home from a local person.

On this occasion, your ignorance can be possibly due to you genuinely not having a clue.

Back in the early 2000's the 'asylum thing' first started with a massive influx of migrants/asylum seekers.

Local authority homes were taken off the councils by the Home Office, for specific use of the influx. These were then fitted out and furnished to a good standard for the new guests. This qualifies for "an itinerant takes a home from a local person", and something similar still goes on today.

all the foreign pickers that come over here for the seasonal work (and take up housing we don't have spare)

So the Home Office seizes houses and forcibly installs seasonal strawberry pickers in them?

I think not.

Jesus, just how crazy are you getting John; you seem to be conflating Woodys comments with mine.

Now where did I say, imply, or even suggest that. Go and take your meds please.

You've actually answered your own question earlier; we have too many people who'd decided sitting on their arse and being looked after by the state, is an acceptable lifestyle choice that they are completely entitled to.

But people work on zero hours contracts, because whilst a few like the flexibility, if it's the only job you can get, then that's what you have to take. A recent survey said that 1 in 4 graduates say their degree has been a waste of time, and some stats suggest it's even higher. But employers know they don't need to increase the wages they pay, because the benefits system will top the wages up. The likes of Sports Direct have a lot to answer for.
If employers are exploiting the benefits system why doesn't the government raise the minimum wage to maybe £10 or even £15 ph that way less money for shareholders but more money paid in tax by workers and less taxpayers money being used to subsidise the profits of employers.
